Review

This is the very first novel I read in Chinese. It took me 208 days to finish it because my reading speed was around 30cpm, so you can already tell that if it wasn't cool, I would have dropped it.

The first two-thirds of the book were really good, I was caught both by the plot and the romance, so even when reading at snail pace with a ton of lookups per page, I really wanted to continue. The last part dragged on a bit, and I would have liked more tension. On the bright side, if you're looking for a novel that neatly ties all ends and is not very angsty, it might be just the right one.

The relationship is about a former student and his former teacher. There's an age gap of about 10 years between them (they're like 30 and 40). The relation in itself is healthy/equal, with lots of tenderness and care.

The SF vocabulary is limited to a few words here and there, so it was ok. The law vocabulary was mostly what you would expect from a TV show about crime and trial, so nothing truly complicated, and the author explains it all in detail anyway.
